The Zoo... La Jolla...

Once again my fellow bloggers-hello! Today we went to the one and only, world famous San Diego Zoo! Today was a very fun day because we have seen an African Elephant, Gorillas, and a lot more! Those are only some of my favourites! We also took the bus, and aerial tours of the zoo. I enjoyed the aerial tour because we were able to get a high view of the entire zoo, and decide what we wanted to do when we got off of the gondola. We also had some good shopping. I bought a mouse pad, some t-shirts, and a couple of key chains. I also took some great photos that I will show you below.

Tonight we met up with a family friend, Jennifer and we had Mexican food in La Jolla. We saw the sea lions down there too! When we were driving we had the roof on the convertible and it was not locked properly. It was making lots of noise and it nearly caught the wind and flew off. We joked about catching air and taking off but mom was telling me to hold on to the latch until she could pull off. There was no where to pull off and we managed to lock them in place at highway speed.

There is really nothing else to tell you, and I need to get a lot of rest, because we are going to be very busy tomorrow because we are going to go back to the USS Midway and the docks, and go to the wild animal park! Then, we drive back to Palm Springs for a restful night at a new hotel near the airport cause we fly home on Saturday. Well I have to go, so I’ll catch you later!

Old Town Trolley Tour and Some Great Pit Stops

Hello my fellow bloggers. Today was another fun-filled day. It just keeps getting better. Today was the day that we went to the San Diego Portside. We ate breakfast at the Hotel Restaurant, and then boarded the San Diego Old Town Trolley. We headed down the the San Diego docks. Here we toured the Berkeley steamer, the B-34 Soviet Attack Submarine, the Star of India, the HMS Surprise, and the USS Midway. This took us until 2:00P.M. The Berkeley steamer was a old steamer from the early 1900’s. This steamer was a ship that was for passengers sailing around the coast of the United States. The B-34 Soviet Attack Submarine is a retired Soviet Submarine of the Soviet Navy. This submarine was built shortly after the second world war and served for about twenty years. The Star of India was a English ship that sailed under the British Empire in the late 1800’s. She sailed around the world of an exact number of twenty-one times. It was very difficult to sail these ships back then due to poor equipment and weaker ships. The fact that she made it around the world twenty-one times is quite amazing! The HMS Surprise was another ship that sailed under the British Empire. This was a classic warship that served in the late 1800’s. She has survived many conflicts at sea. She also played in the famous film, The Pirates of the Caribbean. My favourite ship is the USS Midway. She is a aircraft carrier in the United States Navy. She served for forty-seven years, and had a total of forty Commanding Officers. She also served in the famous mission Desert Storm-specifically Operation Python. Operation Python was a mission to seek and destroy terrorist scud missiles. She is also a total of nine-hundred feet in length. We went from the lower decks to the flight deck. On the flight deck she stored approximately twenty-three different aircraft. In the lower decks, there was the boiler and engine rooms, and of coarse the brig. The brig is a naval term for “jail ”. This is where all offenders were sent. The only sailor with permission to send anyone to the brig was the Commanding Officer. A sailor could be sent to the brig from three days to a month. The brig was ran by Marines. Then in the centre decks there was the hanger decks. This is were the aircraft would be stored before taking the elevator to the flight deck for operation. I also had the experience of some Naval Flight Simulators. Those were also fun. I also went on a sea lion tour. I went aboard a bus that could float on water as well. Well we had a lot of fun, I hope all is well to you-whoever may be reading!

CB Day One/Day Two Report

At ten oclock we checked in our luggage and went to McDonalds and then went back to the airport and through security. I got some gum and we waited. I called my Dad to say goodbye and then got on the plane. We went from Saskatoon to Calgary it took us an hour and I read the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Then we went through customs and went on the plane from Calgary to Palm Springs. IT took 3 hours to get to Palm Springs. Once we got to Palm Springs it was really hot and pretty but it was surrounded by dessert too. We got our black convertible MUSTANG and rolled the roof back and went on the highway. Mom was freaking out cause we kept getting lost. But we did get to San Diego. We went for a swim when we got to our hotel but the water was freezing. We went back to the room, had hot showers and ordered room service. We crashed!!

Today we got up and had breakfast. Then we caught a shuttle to Sea World. When we got to Sea World we went to see the Clydesdayles. I got my picture take with them. I went into a bunch of aquariums and a manatee exhibit. I went and saw the Shamu show and I got SOAKED. We went on the Shipwreck Rapids and you go down the rapids and get soaked. We got changed so we were sort of dry. We then had lunch. We had to guard our lunch from the seagulls. I got to play with sting rays and feed them fish except that the seagull stole the fish from my hand before the ray could get it! My favourite thing was the sting rays because they felt so cool.

I also got a stuffed penquin and a surprise for Mrs. Phillips and a huge sucker that made my face blue!

PS Did you know they changed the cookie monster to the veggie monster?? HOW SILLY!

AB's Day One/Two Post

I couldn’t write yesterday because I didn’t have a lot of time because we arrived in San Diego a little bit too late for blogging-and it was a tiring day. We flew out of Saskatoon at 10:00A.M. to Calgary, and the flight took about one hour. Then from Calgary we flew down to Palm Springs, California which took about 3 hours.. From there we drove in our Convertible to San Diego which took 2 hours. When in flight we flew at about 40 000 feet, and at a speed at about 530 mph.

Today we woke up and went to San Diego’s Sea World. Here we had a blast. We were there for the whole day, and we didn’t even do it all. Well while we were there we went on a River rapid ride, and a and the Wild Arctic ride. The River Rapid ride was a spinning tube that went down a rapid. The Wild Arctic ride was a simulator that made you feel like you were riding a helicopter (The Thunderbird) in the Arctic. This was pretty neat. We also got to encounter Sting Rays, Dolphins, and Sharks. We also got to encounter a lot of different fish. I’ll try to upload them from my camera to the blog, although it might be tough due to poor internet connection. We had a lot of fun today, and we are planning to go to the San Diego Naval Station and aboard the USS Midway. That should be fun!
